USCIS has published a new version of the Form N-400, dated 01/20/25 and effective today, March 4, 2025. The new version of the form removes the box for “Another Gender Identity” and includes some small wording changes (e.g. changing “parent” to “mother or father”). These changes are in keeping with the anti-immigrant and discriminatory rhetoric we are seeing from this administration.
There is no grace period, so we strongly recommend using the new version of the form for any application you have not yet submitted to reduce the risk of rejection. We do not know for sure how they will handle applications that have already been submitted, but we are hopeful they will be processed.
We will keep you posted as we learn additional information.
